The cars are by and large still not "worth" restoring. But to an enthusiast , the patinated & still running machines bring pleasure and challenges. IMO they are worth seeking and preserving for future "collectors" , if there is any petrol left by then.

Since 2009 there has been a classic boom of sorts , partly I think due to the internet and no doubt to magazines and the like talking up what in some places is a huge industry (now 5.9 billion pounds/yr in the UK).

Latest Classic and Sports car mag's Quentin Willson mentions the W108.
It's still not really an investment , maybe pleasure - but not significant profit. But as the desirable models achieve silly prices , the lesser models are dragged upwards. FWIW...

I do like the shape of that graph. Certainly Pagodas and 6.3's now look to be pretty crazy price-wise. The W108 has the same designer and the same look, at a fraction of the price. They are still affordable, but not for long if that graph is correct.

Checked https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools ; condition 3 "good" 250S 1967 (my regoed one) valued at $9,900, and that's USD.
All "for what it's worth"! But they are not depreciating , which is always good!

Trend for W109 is encouraging though for W112 lang (shown incorrectly as 300SEL) a little surprising and for all W123's a horizontal line (no movement?) puzzling?

The USD figure I quoted was around 10K ; the UK article mentioned 5k pounds as a starting point for a good example. And there aren't too many cheap ones FS in the UK. As we know , the vast majority have rusted and died, leaving a few survivors.
The same mag featured the Lancia Aurelia sedan - great saloon , but relatively unloved compared to the coupes.
