Massive price jump on W108 2.8 Dunkelrot

Post by FlyingBrick »

Hi Guys,

Can anyone think of a reason why the price of this car might almost double?

Was originally posted at $11,500 on Carsales & Gumtree

(Mentioned in a post by kimrh in the thread about a Midnight Blue W108 on carsales)

Has since been reposted on Carsales, now at $20,000!

The info in the ad has been updated significantly, but no other significant changes.

Still some noticeable rust around the petrol filler cap.

Ad here:

Thoughts?
Still awaiting a trusty steed to appear before me...

Well there are buyers out there, who are more happy to negotiate 4.000 AUD off the 20.000 AUD price than paying 10.000 AUd in the first place ...

The seller already gave you the answer:

"Very reluctant sale. Sorry to all who rang before- I have put the price up. "

The car is no better than before - the seller has just become twice as reluctant.

Been smoking too much of that "northern Lights" - absolutely.

obviously doesn't want to sell it. it wasn't worth the original asking price, and now that price has doubled? who's kidding who.

some poor dumbass will probably buy it without doing research, then end up on here, only to see us poking fun of the seller, the car and the ad.

I know how the seller feels. My wife once convinced me to advertise a family heirloom. I promised her I would advertise it for sale which I did at a greatly inflated price and a warts n all description. Needless to say I still have it.

I like it as a car, but having owned a few over the last 40 years I really don't think a six is worth that much .I wonder if he is fishing for bids to get an insurance appraisal Or simply wants to feel good? As fo0r the mileage, I often think of the first one i had in the early 70's. At 18 months old it had already covered over 100,000 miles as a company registered car but still looked good.
