Half shafts

Post by 00quattro00 » Tue 05 Dec, 2017 7:31 pm

Im looking for some half shafts that are at least 50mm shorter than the ones in my 500sec. Would shafts from a w123 be shorter and would the outer cv have the same spline?

Hi to the New Zealander without a name :laughing6: ,

I guess you will have someone make that shaft for you. It would be pure luck to find one. I thought - lengthwise - a 350/450 R107 SLC shaft would fit my 500, but it didn't. Length was alright, but the diameter for the connections was different.

Unless you have someone who has shafts lying around - and you can try - I don't think you'll be lucky. Are there no specialists to shorten/lengthen and balance shafts where you are?

Regards
Thomas

Sorry I don't know. Curious why. Are you putting bigger wheels and tubbing it? Bigger diff?

I will be using a nissan r200 diff, they are slightly wider than the merc diff, if I can find some half shafts that are shorter I can just make some adapters for the inner cv to bolt onto the nissan diff

The outer spline is the same across all W114>>>>>W126 models. Yes there are differant lengths, but the difference is minimal so I don't think you will get ones that are 50mm longer. :snooty:
