Dual Air Intakes 420

I'm in the process of installing dual air intakes on my 420. I've acquired a dual air intake assembly and have the smaller long flexible pipe, but struggling to find the right air intake scoop (passenger side) part.

Does anyone have the part number for the passenger side air scoop?

If the gods smile on me I'm buying a 560 for a "spares" when I return from work (mid oct) if the bit you want is there and I suspect it is it's yours.

Thanks Dean, I'm actually looking for the air scoop that clips in next to passenger headlight.

I have the flexible hose as can be seen in attachment.

I've manage to source a passenger air intake scoop

FYI, part number is 1170940911

Glad you got one. Missed out on the spare 560 anyway, one of the many joy's of FIFO :boohoo:

I've fitted the new air intake housing and associated scoop and hose. I'm guessing any power gains will be very modest ~5HP, but would be happy to hear otherwise

From around 87 all euro 420s had the dual intake setup, power and torque climbed to 170KW/335NM, compared to Aus delivered versions 155KW/317NM.

The dual intake gives the engine bay a more aesthetic (balanced) look but i doubt whether it would lift performance figures.
The best mod especially for Aust delivered models is to ditch that horrible factory crossover header design and go for twin dumper Euro logs or Tri-Ys if you can source them and a custom free flowing exhaust set up in 2.25" under the car ditching those heavy Kidneys

from 09.85 all RUF and ECE spec m116 and m117 engines had improved performance over the Australian versions.

the performance came from compression ratio increases, improved camshaft profile, fuel divider delivery piston metering, EZL maps and exhaust.

the dual intake improvement was to decrease pressure drop at the filter element and more importantly act as a cold air induction source.
