Another SEC AMG widebody up for sale - this time in the UK

Post by kimrh » Thu 14 Sep, 2017 12:30 am

I notice yet another ex Japan AMG 6ltr 32v widebody has surfaced for sale -
this time in the UK listed for GBP 109,995 = AUD $182,000

http://www.motor-hub.co.uk/used-cars/me ... 1199914416

This one is an 89 model 32V (supposedly 6ltr) in full spec including the full interior & Recaro seats etc
States it has full service history so be curious if it comes with AMG paperwork to verify the 6ltr version as the rocker cover is stamped by AMG as 5.6litre
Low kms 16,767

Utilising their own 385 bhp DOHC 6.0 version of MB's big V8, along with suspension and interior upgrades and the stunning body modifications, AMG created what is even today regarded as one the most desirable and easily recognizable factory modified modern Mercedes.
High Spec Includes - Full Black Upgraded AMG Recaro Leather Interior, Wood Capping Including Door Cards, AMG Steering, Amg White Dials, Electric Seats, Heated Seats, Memory Seats, Climate Control, Air Conditioning, CD Player, Cruise Control, Electric Windows, Electric Mirrors, Central Locking, AMG Upgraded Suspension, AMG Sports Exhaust, Full Wide Body BY AMG Factory, AMG Split Rim Alloys.
Fresh Imported From Japan by collector, Japanese Service History, Recently Recommissioned, No Expense Spared. "Very Rare And Collectible Model" £109,995

As usual any prospective buyer would really need to do their due-diligence homework to establish if AMG Germany or AMG Japan did the mods or they were added later in its life in Japan and either a Genuine AMG modded coupe and certified it or a Japan mod shop has done the work outside of AMG's certified workshop.
But with the 32v install and loaded with AMG parts it sounds like it is genuine on the surface if they are stating full service history and one would hope they have the AMG invoice for that price.

I have been advised the WB coupe has now been sold to a USA based buyer.
So that did not hang around very long despite the asking price and need to ship from UK to USA

I believe this is the same car that was put up for auction in UK angliacarauctions.co.uk back in 2012 as it has the same UK registration plate.

Was an import from Japan and local UK respray. If you look at Jono's comment in the attached link: 'a pricey re-hab that'. I wonder if this was addressed?

Yes the 32V heads were plagued with problems (expecially the earlier released heads that kept snapping camshafts and the sand casting process of the heads back then caused all sorts of sealing and leak issues. The metal was porous and now requires modern processes applied to the alloy to alleviate this. Added fact in they they are a 3 part complex head with no longer available replacement parts (requiring custom hand making if required and if you can find someone to make them) at leaves only the most dedicated person who enters into buying a W126 with the 32V heads.
They are enormous in size and weight over a factory head.

Move forward to today and it has been proven the same power/torque results can be achieved using a 16V M117 engine with a few mods and it will be a very reliable engine
