Wanted - Ignition Control Module

Anyone have/know of a good ignition control module for the 420?

My friend who is keeping my car while I am away has had a diagnosis of a failed module and been quoted between $2000 - $7000 for a new one :nono:

The car is currently in Victoria.

420 SE - 1988 (Lucy) - back into service!
ML 500 - 2008 (the Doha desert Dame) - retired
ML 400 - 2015 (the new Doha desert Dame, or is that Princess?)

Forum sponsor - and a new coil as well. have your mate pull the dizzy cap and check for scoring and worn rotor also. May require replacement.

Bummer Ross.. I hope you source one quickly, and for a LOT less money..

Maybe you could amend your postings with the Bosch number listed on the unit?
Who knows.. maybe someone might have one by that number in hand...

Do you have part number? Is it with knock sensors and 2x 8-pin connectors? Or older, without knock and 2x 4-pin connectors?

I don't have the part number as I am over 7000kms away from the car and the person keeping it for me has no idea what it looks like, but it is the 8 pin with knock sensor later version.

what is the part number?

I seem to recall seeing one in a friends crate of 8 pin EZL's I bench tested for him. No promises he will want to sell itm but he has no 420's & no interest in them - 560 & 500 enthusiast Kimrh.

I dont remember if it was a pass or fail but clearly marked the dud ones for him

Personally, If the car was a keeper I'd consider installing Dkubus with ignition control too so you can laptop tune injection and ignition and never worry about fragile EZL's ever again. The guy is on the ozbenz facebook page. Who can tell if that second hand one you buy for 500-800 doesnt blow again in 2 weeks time ?

Anyone you know of here have a Dkubus system installed? I'll be considering that in future. Also looking at their torque converters for when my transmission needs rebuild - they're apparently performance oriented and suit all W126's.
