front jacking point

Post by minkbigbird 63 » Fri 14 Jul, 2017 10:13 pm

Hi all.I know it may sound like a simple question but where is the best position to use a trolley jack to lift up the front on my 86 sel to do a rego.inspection of the front suspension. Two jack's either side on the rubber pads or some where in the center toward the front? with out doing any damage.
thanks Brian.

Hello Brian, the factory fitted rubber pads are your best bet. Other options are to go further in to the part that looks like a chassis rail.

Hang on, I just read that a bit more carefully. To check the front suspension you need to put the jack under the lower control arm as close as possible to the wheel. Taking the weight off the wheel, but having the spring still compressed allows you to check the lower and upper ball joint.
