new member from the other side of the world

Post by cofran220s » Thu 28 Sep, 2017 12:35 am

Hello to everyone!

I'm Franco from Chile, South America. I found this forum googling the web so i didn't hesitate to register, seems to have a lot of info, help, tips, etc. I hope to be a helpful and friendly user!

A bit of my story.
My grand father had a 1963 220S Heckflosse (aka Finnie!). Really beautiful car. I grew up with that car, my dad and my older brother took care of it for some years, and now I'm getting my hands on it. It has the M127 engine (2.2L 6 cylinders carburatted engine), 360.000 kms, 4spd manual trans.
The car needs a lot of love, fortunately where I live the weather is very dry compared to Aus, so the car does not have massive corrosion. The car has been sitting down for more than 12 years, and a few weeks ago I opened the engine valve cover to see how the engine health was. Luckily for me there was plenty of oil and no corrosion at all, but the car has a lot of malfunctioning/wore/bad parts so I'm getting my way to restore it.

I could post a list of what I've seen/know so far that it needs.

I've attached some pictures of the car.

Many thanks to you all!

Welcome to Ozbenz by another Finnie owner.

Small correction: a M127 is the injected engine; the M180 is the same engine with carburetors. Check the engine number, it should start with 180.9xx

Nitpick over :laughing6:

Hi Franco,

welcome here! What a great story to have such a car in the family!!! Cherish it, I would love to have one of the cars from my father.

Through my wife I have some relations to Argentina and after a lot of struggle I could export a W115 pickup to Germany ... you'll find the thread under W114/115 "ute-project".

Good luck with your restoration!
Thomas
